This year, Disney along with Pixar will present 'Soul,' 'Turning Red,' and 'Luca' on the big screen. These screenings are a preview for the highly anticipated release of Disney and Pixar's new film, 'Inside Out 2,' which will make its appearance in theaters this summer.
As usual, the moviegoing experience begins with an animated short by Pixar preceding each main film. On Feb. 14, Soul will be shown in theaters, introduced by the captivating SparkShort 'Burrow.' 'Turning Red' will appear on the big screen on March 27, followed by the heartwarming SparkShort 'Kitbull'. Last up is 'Luca' on May 1, preceded by the well-known Pixar short 'For the Birds'.
Soul
'Soul,' directed by Oscar winner Pete Docter and co-directed by Kemp Powers, takes us on a journey with Joe Gardner, a music teacher given an extraordinary opportunity. But a small misstep leads him to The Great Before. Along with "22," Joe discovers the meaning of being human and explores some of life's most important questions. 'Soul' won multiple Oscars and other prestigious awards, including Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Music.
Turning Red
"Turning Red," directed by Academy Award-winner Domee Shi, reveals the story of Mei Lei, a 13-year-old girl caught between two worlds: that of her overprotective mother and that of exciting adolescence. When Mei gets excited, she transforms into an enormous red panda. The film was nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe.
Luca
'Luca,' a beautiful coming-of-age story set on the Italian Riviera, follows the summer adventures of Luca and his best friend Alberto. But a deep-seated secret lurks there: they are sea monsters. Directed by Enrico Casarosa, "Luca" received nominations for both an Oscar and a Golden Globe.
