It's official: Walt Disney Animation Studios is once again taking us on a journey with "Moana 2," the highly anticipated sequel to the 2016 Oscar-nominated film. Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger of The Walt Disney Company announced that the film will make its appearance in theaters in 2024.
"Moana continues to be an incredibly beloved franchise," Iger stated. "We can't wait to show you more of Moana and Maui when 'Moana 2' hits theaters in November."
The all-new animated musical adventure from Walt Disney Animation Studios takes audiences on a vast new journey with Moana, Maui and an all-new crew of unlikely sailors.
After an unexpected call from her navigating ancestors, Moana must travel to the far seas of Oceania and venture into dangerous, long-forgotten waters for an adventure the likes of which she has never experienced before.
Directed by Dave Derrick Jr. with music by Grammy® winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Grammy nominee Opetaia Foa'i, and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina, 'Moana 2' will be available in theaters starting Nov. 27, 2024.
