The 'Fantastic Four' are coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Marvel Studios today unveiled the cast for the highly anticipated film, which will hit cinemas in 2025.
Pedro Pascal ('The Last of Us') will play the role of Reed Richards / Mr Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby ('The Crown') takes on the role of Sue Storm / Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn ('Stranger Things') is Johnny Storm / Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach ('The Bear') portrays Ben Grimm / The Thing.
Matt Shakman ('WandaVision') directs the film, based on a screenplay by Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer.
The Fantastic Four are one of the most important superhero teams in Marvel history. They are astronauts who gain superpowers after exposure to cosmic radiation. Reed Richards can stretch his body, Sue Storm can become invisible and create force fields, Johnny Storm can fly and manipulate fire, and Ben Grimm is transformed into a rock-like creature with enormous power.
The film rights to the Fantastic Four were long held by 20th Century Fox, which produced three films featuring the characters. In 2019, Disney took over 21st Century Fox, allowing the Fantastic Four to finally join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In 2022's 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness', we already got a glimpse of Reed Richards, played by John Krasinski. It is not yet known whether Krasinski will return in the new film.
The Fantastic Four are a major addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They will add a new dynamic to the franchise and fans cannot wait to see them in action.
