Disney has released a first image of 'TRON: Ares', the highly anticipated new installment in the groundbreaking 'TRON' franchise. The film, which began production in Vancouver in January, is scheduled for a 2025 release.
'TRON: Ares' is a sequel to Disney's 1982 science fiction film 'TRON' and its 2010 sequel 'TRON: Legacy'. The film promises to be a visually stunning journey into the digital world, with groundbreaking special effects and an exciting story.
Joachim Rønning, the film's director, says: "I am thrilled to be part of the TRON franchise and bring this new film to fans around the world. The film builds on the legacy of cutting-edge design, technology and storytelling. Now more than ever, it feels like the right time to return to the Grid."
The film follows a highly advanced programme, Ares, sent from the digital world to the real world on a dangerous mission. This marks humanity's first encounter with A.I. beings.
The film features a star-studded cast including Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan and Gillian Anderson.
'TRON: Ares' is produced by Sean Bailey, Jeffrey Silver, Justin Springer, Jared Leto, Emma Ludbrook and Steven Lisberger. Russell Allen is executive producer.
