Tourists visiting Disneyland Paris this year will face significantly higher tourist tax rates. These increases are part of a broader regional shift in Île-de-France that includes the wider Paris area. Guests of Disney Hotels will feel the effects of these rate changes, with increases as high as 187 percent.
Tourist tax
Recent adjustments in rates include an increase for five-star hotels, including the Disneyland Hotel, from 3.75 euros to 10.73 euros per person per night. Four-star hotels, such as Disney Newport Bay Club and Disney Hotel New York - The Art of Marvel, must now charge 8.13 euros instead of 2.88 euros. Guests at three-star hotels, including Disney Sequoia Lodge and Disney Hotel Cheyenne, are also experiencing an increase from 1.88 euros to 5.20 euros per person per night. Even two-star hotels, such as Disney Hotel Santa Fe, did not escape the increase, with a tourist tax of 3.25 euros per person per night instead of 1.13 euros.
Olympic Games
These fare changes are being introduced ahead of the Olympics taking place in Paris this summer. It is hoped in this way to take advantage of the expected influx of millions of tourists.
The increased tourist tax is not only noticeable when booking hotels on the Disneyland Paris website. These rates are applicable in all municipalities within the Île-de-France region, meaning that other accommodations in close proximity to Paris are also affected.
Financing new metro line
The additional money generated by the tax increase will largely be invested in the development of tourist landmarks. Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM), the organization responsible for managing public transport in Paris, will benefit from the proceeds. The money will contribute to the Grand Paris Express plan, an ambitious project with a price tag of 35 billion euros, aimed at expanding the metro network in and around Paris.
These changes in fares highlight broader efforts to improve infrastructure and promote mobility in the region.
