Disneyland Hotel has reopened at Disneyland Paris, and as always, Disney Imagineers worked closely with artists from Walt Disney Animation Studios to ensure that no detail was overlooked. From a deleted scene from 'Frozen 2' to tributes to iconic Disney Legends, find out what royal details you won't want to miss during your next visit!
1. Stories brought to life
Inspired by the libraries of world-famous French castles, you'll find 15 dioramas in the lobby showing scenes from iconic Disney stories. Each of these pays homage to a technique invented by Walt Disney and his artists in the 1930s: the multiplane camera. This special camera gave the artists the illusion of depth in animation by superimposing transparent painted cells on top of each other, putting visitors right in the middle of the stories, just like at Disneyland Hotel!
2. Deleted scene from 'Frozen 2'‘
Did you know that a deleted scene from 'Frozen 2' can be found at Disneyland Hotel? In the Prologue room of the Royal Banquet, you will discover the origins of Disney royal families, such as Arthur from 'The Word in the Stone' or Rapunzel from 'Rapunzel'. When Imagineers were commissioned to depict the first chapter of the 'Frozen' story, they were inspired by a deleted scene from 'Frozen 2' in which young Agnarr and Iduna, the parents of Anna and Elsa, meet for the first time in the Enchanted Forest. This playful moment in the sky thanks to Gale, the wind spirit, is now available for all to admire!
3. Keep your ears open at the pool
All over the hotel you will find references to favorite royal stories, even ones you might not expect! At the Crystal Pool & Health Club, be sure to listen carefully to the music playing. You might recognize hints from Disney films such as 'Atlantis: The Sunken City,' 'Raya and the Last Dragon', 'Pocahontas' and 'Moana'.
4. The best story in the bookcase
In the Beauty and the Beast Signature Suite, you are transported directly to Castle Beast with its baroque architecture and the Enchanted Rose on display. If you take a closer look at the bookshelves, you'll see on the cover of one book a reference to Disney Legend Howard Ashman, whom you may know as the lyricist behind the film's beloved songs.
5. Elegant details in the Castle Club
In the Castle Club Lounge, not only do you have a breathtaking view of the iconic Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant (Sleeping Beauty), but the glass panels in the room are engraved with famous Disney castles. No detail has been overlooked here. The balustrades are even inspired by Disney Legend Mary Blair's designs for Cinderella, but with an extra touch of pearly shine.
6. Designs inspired by the classics
At the Royal Kids Club, where children are welcomed into a magical library, the tabletops are decorated with intricately drawn lighting designs originally designed by Disney Legend Eyvind Earle. He was responsible for the overall artistic direction of the Disney film "Sleeping Beauty," and the designs come directly from the pages of the book shown at the beginning of the film.
Pay extra close attention to the bookshelves, because you might discover some familiar friends hiding there! We found Mrs. Potts, Chip, Abu and Pascal, among others, but there are many more to discover.
7. Continuing the legacy of the Disneyland Hotel
On the Castle Club floor of the rotunda, be sure to stop to admire the beautiful porcelain figures of Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella. These used to stand in their respective suites before the hotel underwent a royal transformation. They are true to the Disney classics down to the smallest details, and we are delighted that they are now still
