It's official: Walt Disney Animation Studios is taking us on another journey with Moana 2, the long-awaited sequel to the 2016 Oscar-nominated film. Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger of The Walt Disney Company announced that the film will hit cinemas in 2024.
“Moana remains an incredibly beloved franchise,” Iger stated. “We can’t wait to show you more of Moana and Maui when ‘Moana 2’ hits theatres this November.”
The brand new animated musical adventure from Walt Disney Animation Studios takes audiences on a sweeping new journey with Moana, Maui and an all-new crew of unlikely sailors.
After an unexpected call from her navigating ancestors, Moana must travel to the distant seas of Oceania and venture into dangerous, long-forgotten waters for an adventure like she has never experienced before.
Directed by Dave Derrick Jr. with music by Grammy® winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Grammy nominee Opetaia Foa’i, and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina, Moana 2 will be in cinemas from 27 November 2024.
